What is a green card

A green card is a permanent resident card and grants the owner the right to live, work or study in the United States for 10 years. A green card holder has almost the exact same rights as a US citizen with the only difference being that a green card holder cannot run for public office and cannot vote in an election.


How many times can I apply each year

A person is allowed to be the main applicant on one application each year, if you were to submit more than one application in a year, where you are the main applicant, you would be disqualified. The US government deploys complex software that finds and marks such applications for disqualification.


Is there a deadline to apply

Yes, you application must be submitted no later than Noon November 7, 2024, to be included into this year’s DV-Lottery called the DV-2026. After this date the DV-Lottery will be closed for any applications and applicants would have to wait for next year’s DV-Lottery to open to apply for that lottery instead.


Can I include my spouse and children on my application

Yes, you can include your spouse and any children aged 21 and younger and if your application is selected you will all be granted a green card.


Must I provide documents

No, you will not be asked to provide any documents while you apply. You will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, Country and city of birth as well as select your highest education level and also asked to upload a passport like photo of each applicant on your application. If your application is selected, you will be asked to provide an education certificate and if you are married a marriage certificate to be submitted with your DS-260 green card application. When filling the DS-260 form, you must also provide documents for all applicants on your application documenting their country of birth.
